There's this girl who was my absolute best friend when I was about six. But one tragic year I moved away and never saw her again, though we did speak on the phone from time to time.
But here's my question: I haven't talked to her in about five years, and we were both really young when we were friends, but does somebody suppose it would be appropriate to send her a letter? I'm just worried she'll think "For God's sake, I haven't talked to her in years, I figured we'd both established that our friendship was over."
From what I remember she is such a sweetheart, and we were both very similar in our younger years, but people do change as they grow older, but I really would like to see if she's doing all right.
Should I, or should I not? And if I do, how should the letter go?

I know this seems like a stupid problem but it is a minor irritation in my life currently.
